1940s Grampian DPL Dynamic Microphone

This 1940s Grampian DPL Dynamic Microphone was made by Grampian Reproducers Ltd, Feltham, Middlesex, England. These microphones are pretty rare!

A heavy moving-coil P.A microphone, in bronze/brown colour, it has an Art Deco style chrome grille frontage. It is sold without a stand and is untested. In reasonable used condition, the chrome grille is pitted and distorted. There is also some loss to the paint on the outside of the microphone. In good condition, these microphones sell for over £150. We have reduced the price accordingly.

There is the number 2659 engraved on the connector.

Approximate Dimensions:

  • Face Diameter: 6.5cm
  • Total Length: 19cm
  • Length (Microhone Head only): 10cm

The DPL is historically important. It is the type of Personal Address (P.A) Microphone used by Winston Churchill on his address to the nation on VE day, 1945, announcing the end of WW2 in Europe. The actual DPL used by Winston Churchill purportedly sold for £19,000 in 2005!
